Privacy Policy

Updated:

Tech Interview Prep (“we,” “us”) is a free interview-prep study resource. This page explains what information we collect when you use the site and how it’s used.

What we collect

  • Account login. If you log in (via Google, Meta, GitHub, or LinkedIn), we receive and store your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider, and create an account record so you stay signed in across visits. We never see or store your password for these providers — login happens entirely on their side.
  • Session cookie. Once signed in, we set a single cookie to keep you logged in. It’s used only for authentication, not tracking or advertising.
  • Learning and profile data. When you use signed-in learning features, we store quiz sessions and answers, progress, QA practice, bookmarks, notes, scoring events, streak activity, profile details, and the learning/display/privacy preferences you choose. Notes and answer drafts remain private. Public-profile fields and leaderboard participation are disabled unless you opt in.
  • Membership. If you subscribe, we store your membership record: the plan, its start and end dates, and which page you subscribed from. No payment details are collected. It is deleted with your account.
  • Contact form. If you submit the contact form, we store the name, email address, and message you provide so we can respond to you.
  • Standard hosting logs. Our hosting and database providers automatically log basic technical data (e.g. IP address, browser user-agent, request timestamps) for security and operational purposes, as is standard for any website.
  • Analytics. In production, Google Analytics may collect aggregated usage and technical events so we can understand which pages and flows are useful. We do not send private notes or answer drafts as analytics content.

We don’t collect payment information.

Cookies

The authentication cookie described above is created when you log in. Production analytics may also use Google Analytics technologies. We do not use advertising cookies or sell profile information for targeted advertising.

How we use your information

We use your account information to sign you in, preserve learning progress, calculate the scoring/streak/ranking features you choose to use, personalize your study experience, keep the service secure, and respond to messages. Public profile and leaderboard information is shown only according to your opt-in and visibility settings. We don’t sell or rent your information for marketing purposes.

Data retention and deletion

We keep account-owned profile, preference, progress, attempt, scoring, streak, bookmark, and note data for as long as your account exists; those rows are deleted with the account. Public feedback and votes authored by the account are also deleted. Completed moderation decisions may remain as anonymized audit records, without the deleted moderator’s account identity. Contact submissions are retained until no longer needed to address the inquiry. You can delete your account from your private profile, or request deletion of other information via the contact page with the email address you signed in with, and we’ll delete it.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

As the site grows (for example, if we add analytics or new login providers), we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
